Sacred Arts Festival

After a delightful visit to Amritsar I was able to attend Delhi's Saced Arts Festival today and receive teachings (organized by Swati, one of my close friends) from Sri Ma Amodini Saraswati. Ma's gentle, loving and inspiring teachings focused on the "Ganga as Celestial Goddess." During my time in India I've bathed in the Ganga, or Ganges River,  at Rishkesh, Haridwar and in Benares (Varanasi) and I also made a pilgrimage to Lake Mansarovar/Mount Kailash in Tibet where the Ganga originates. More importantly, my dear spiritual sister, Gina, is an environmental anthropologist with a deep connection with the Ganga and it is through her devotion that I've gained a greater appreciation and understanding of this sacred river.

What I took away from today's teaching was the importance of surrender. When we let go, trust and let the Ganga ("Divinity") guide us and take us along instead of swimming against the current we invoke "flow," life is easeful and we are naturally exactly where we are supposed to be doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing. Sri Ma Amodini Saraswati also encouraged us to meditate on the following frequently and emphatically: "I am happy. I am loving. I am whole. I am powerful. I am perfect. I am strong. I am harmonious. I am rich with abundance. I am young."  Now that's some serious meditation mojo :)  I look forward to my return to Rishikesh and tryst with Ma Ganga this month!
